About | Dr. George Cooper

Dr. George Cooper Equitile's Chief Investment Officer and Founder of the firm, he leads the investment process.

George has worked in financial markets for over 30 years, holding senior investment and strategy roles at some of the world's most prestigious firms: Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank and BlueCrest Capital.

He founded Equitile to build an independent investment management firm, run by investors for investors.

Many of the ideas behind Equitile's investment philosophy can can be found in his books. In The Origin of Financial Crises, published shortly before the failure of Lehman Brothers, George explains why financial markets are inherently unstable, prone to forming asset price bubbles and further destabilised by central bank monetary policy. In Fixing Economics he discusses how using the wrong model of human behaviour leads to fundamental problems in the foundations of economic theory.

George sometimes says "his hobby is writing about about the flaws in financial markets while his day job is making money from the flaws in financial markets."

Before moving into financial markets George worked for Fujitsu as a semiconductor engineer making DRAM memory chips. He holds both a BSc in Physics and a PhD in Engineering, both from Durham University.
